Catering to Your Wedding Guests Part 2: Gluten Free
In the midst of planning your wedding menu, you will want to make sure all of your guests are accommodated with delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts. However, with the rise in people opting for gluten-free diets, for personal or medical reasons, you are going to want to include gluten-free menu options on your big day.
For the most part, appetizers and entrees can be naturally gluten-free options. Any meats, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables, which are normally found at a cocktail hour, are perfectly fine for your guests to enjoy. Ask your caterer to make sure that there are gluten-free salad dressings available for cocktail hour and your reception, if salad is on the menu at either. Also, beverages, mainly beer, can be a bit of a problem for your gluten-free wedding guests. Have a bar stocked with gluten-free beer, hard cider, wine, and liquor to keep your guests happy, not sick.
Desserts seem to pose the biggest problem for gluten-free wedding guests. If you don’t want to have a gluten-free wedding cake at your wedding, there are so many other options for delicious gluten-free wedding desserts. Opt for an ice cream bar with an array of toppings or chocolate fountain with several dipping options, like fruit and marshmallows. Baked apples are also a delicious, warm gluten-free dessert.
The best tip for letting your guests know about their menu options is to only tell your gluten-free wedding guests. These options are so tasty that your other guests will never know they are gluten-free. Send your gluten-free guests a list of the options they will have when they attend your wedding so they can enjoy themselves without having to worry about what is safe to eat and what will make them sick.
